Giving to Zeal for the Lord's House

Suggested Gift Plans

In order to assist you as you consider making a pledge to this campaign, we have provided some suggested giving plans. We ask that you prayefully consider a pledge of sacrifice that helps to expess to God your gratitude for all of the gifts in your life. Your sacrifice, combined with many other faith-filled Catholic individuals and families, will propel us forward toward our goal and provide a brighter future for the formation of men at Saint Francis de Sales Seminary. A gift to this campaign may entitle you to a charitable contribution deduction against your income tax.

Suggested Giving Plans

Alternate Methods of Giving

Planned Giving, Wills, Estate Planning, Life Insurance

There are numerous planned giving opportunities that provide donors with alternative methods of making their gifts to the campaign. These include, but are restricted to:

  • Gifts of assets including real estate, stocks, bonds, coins, produce, livestock, etc.
  • Making Saint Francis de Sales Seminary a beneficiary of your will.
  • Naming Saint Francis de Sales Seminary as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy.

Matching Gift Opportunities

Many employers have matching gift programs that provide employees the opportunity to multiply their gifts to educational institutions, ministry organziations, and charitable institutions. We encourage you to inquire with your Human Resources Department regarding the matching gift opportunities available to you. Please contact the campaign office at 414-747-6400 x6435 for assistance.

Tax Advantages of Thoughtful Giving

Federal and state laws on income and inheritance taxes encourage charitable giving.

  • All contributions to our campaign are tax-deductible for those who itemize their deductions.

Charitable IRA Rollover

In December 2015, Congress passed legislation makiing the IRA Charitable Rollover permanent. If you have an IRA and are aged 70.5 or older, you may opt to make a charitable contribution from your qualified IRA plan. When you do so, you may transfer up to $105,000 per year to The Salesianum Trust. As a charitable gift, this distribution comes straight to the Trust. Therefore, it would not be taxed as income. In addition, if you are required to take a minimum distribution (RMD), your charitable contribution can satisfy all or part of the amount of your required minimum distribution from your IRA.

Gifts of Appreciated Stock

You can give appreciated stock to the campaign. If you have held your stock for more than one year, you may take a charitable tax deduction for the current market value of the stock, and neither you nor The Salesianum Trust is required to pay capital gains taxes when the stock is sold. The combination can result in greater deduction (and more tax savings) for you and a larger gift for the campaign than if you see the stock, pay the taxes, and donate the net proceeds.

  • Procedure to Transfer Stock
Please contact the campaign office at 414-747-6400 x6435 if you wish to discuss making a gift of stock. You must indicate on your pledge card the number of shares and the name of the company (ticker). Please also call the campaign office or notify your campaign director immediately so we can confirm that the securities were received, authorized the sale by our broker, and send you the appropriate acknowledgment letter.
  • Download instructions to transfer stock to The Salesianum Trust.

All contributions to the Zeal for the Lord's House Campaign should be made payable to The Salesianum Trust. This separate 501(c)(3) will house all campaign funds for the purposes outlined in the campaign case statement. The EIN for The Salesianum Trust is 99-3040575.
